How lovely. :D //raktron.com/turbopc

While you're at it, go Style A Car and then go look at the Stupid Northern Monkeys. :D

Thank you advertising!

Once again, the HUGE irony of dynamic inline advertising on web pages never ceases to amuse me. What do you see on a page highlighting a big fault with Intel's new Centrino technology? An advert promoting its "compatibility".

Chuckles all round.

Look, I tell the truth:

Intel Centrino bug screenshot

Told ya. :D

Bush in 30 Seconds

Fancy making a TV advert showing the real Bush in 30 seconds?

Now's your chance. :) Michael Moore's judging this too, so you should have the judge on your side before you start ;)

Lanning Fun. Fun diddly fun fun.

Well, another Lanse is almost over, and I've had one of the most enjoyable weekends for months. Great stuff.

On a geeky tip, if you want to see if your SMPT server is capable of passing on junk email (i.e. it's not correctly set up, and could be a public relay) then use zoneedit.com's nifty tool to test it out. My server came up clean (as I thought it would ;) - but yours might not. If it doesn't, get onto your ISP sharpish. For the tool, click here.

Another very useful tool also provided by ZoneEdit.com is their DNS lookup tool - something that used to be a great feature of SamSpade, but has since been disabled due to abuse (though you can still do this in their standalone Windows software available from the site as well).

Ah well, geeky stuff over. Have fun.

slsk has changed web address - important

Just a note to anybody who's trying to tell which soulseek site is the right one or not - www.slsk.org has been rebought and the programme you actually get off that site now is the "Mainpean Stardialer" (a dialer which dials up expensive phone numbers to "access the p2p"... Which is totally unneeded.

In fact, that site has nothing to do with slsk now. The official soulseek site is www.slsknet.org.

Just a note.

Do something amazing...

... I gave blood on Thursday. Everybody should. To find out where your nearest donation session is taking place, click here: //www.blood.co.uk/pages/search.asp

Plus you get a keyring with your blood type on, and a GB (Give Blood) sticker for your car. That's the real reason I went. :D

...The Tao of Internet Relay Chat...

There once was a luser who used the ircII client. "ircII can do anything I ever need for using IRC" said the emacs client user, "I have /ON's, I have assignments, I have aliasing. Why don't you use this instead of the huge emacs client, which also has a messy screen?" The emacs client user then replied by saying that "it is better to have a scripting language that is the client instead of have a client that has a scripting language." Upon hearing this, the ircII client luser fell silent.

That and more wise, wise musings on The Tao of IRC, the sage luser, and the shortsighted emacs user here. Oh, and you can read up on things like the history of IRC and The Great Split (dun dun dunnnnn) here.

Oh, and 1 more hour until my birthday. :D

Just a load of Skype, really

Oooooooo look, now if someone has Skype they can .

Sounds dirty, doesn't it. :D

....... Well, that's one more programme I'll probably use once, lose the second time and throw away the third, but it's all good. =) (Plus it's by the makers of KaZaA, incidentally. Worth checking out - clever use of their FastTrack P2P system.)

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Sex, Freud and Folly: The Truth About Psychotherapy

I'm serious, it's a real book.

I'm somewhat moreso serious about this than the majority of the reviewers.

Enjoy.

Dead serious

BBC NEWS: "I'm sorry he can't be with us..."

A 'dead man' and the scientific team which discovered London taxi drivers possess bigger-than-average brains have been honoured at the annual IgNobels.

A spoof on the real Nobel Prizes, the Igs aim to recognise achievements which "cannot, or should not, be reproduced".

Nice to see somebody around here still has a sense of humour.
