Well, while many other people (including many teenagers) were off winning awards for their quality weblogs from The Guardian, my little brainsplurge-come-diary is still here, festering in its little corner of the interwebnet. Spitzing Image
... And while the world's attention is focused on the European Space Agency's gamble for a December 25th Mars landing, NASA keeps on chugging away with its developments. The latest announcement is the first pictures from Spitzer, their new infra-red deep space telescope (that can look THROUGH dust clouds to provide some pretty damn astounding pictures).
This stuff is the stuff I really like to look at, it's mind-expanding just looking at these pictures and imagining the pure enormity and incredible things that we just never see in our universe.
But I ramble. Here, have some Spitzer pictures.

When will the madness end? Is the UK going to become a carbon copy of the US in terms of people just sueing when they feel hard-done by? I hate to be cynical, but it's happening already.

Aside from that, further proof that America = lawsuit culture: a man in New York was charged by a policeman when one of his little kid's balloons burst in the street. Apparently he was causing an "undue public disturbance"... I'd like to give an unduly publically disturbance to the stupid muppet retard policeman who issued the charge in the first place. This isn't the first time somebody's been charged for no apparent logical reason though... Check this out.
Now then, on a final note for now, just think: you probably have countless atlases and mapbooks of your country and your region, but what about the Internet hey? No? Not even one? Pfft, you internet newbie. Go get one sharpish!

MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........
... Man, this baby might be small, but it's beautiful.
Look at it... Fantastic little piece of kit. It's called the Rio Karma, it has 20gb of storage onboard, and can play all the usual filetypes including MP3, and WMA, AND it can support my lovely favourite Ogg - AND FLAC files!!! Amazing. Plus the docking station is just impressive to the max... RCA outputs, ETHERNET (!!!!!!!) and... Well... Just look at it. It's a great little bit of kit. It's even got a Lithium-Ion battery, which lasts something ridiculously long like 16 hours... Great stuff. Shame about the headphones, but hey, I already have some nice Sony MDR-821s so that's no worry. Heh. :D
If I had the money, I'd even buy this player over the iRiver 20gb iHP-120, which is saying something.
The only othe shame is the price really, else I'd be snapping it up quick as a flash. ?280 from Amazon UK... Just too much. =( Here's hoping that it comes down in price soon after Christmas!

Mmmmmmmmm... gigapixel
Interesting, interesting... one clever guy's gone and made a gigapixel image by stitching together hundreds of high res digital photos using a combination of software he's written, some other software and an extreme amount of patience... I want to see this baby printed out :D
The guy's called Max Lyons, and the item in question is called Breaking the Gigapixel Barrier. Go read if you're interested in photography, most interesting.
