See the phpBB author rant!

... And it is good.

Makes for interesting reading too: Not my blog: Hey! I thought of that first!

If you've not used or don't know what phpBB is, then I suggest you go learn via the medium of Google sharpish ;)

I HATE these quizzes... But I have to take one every year.

Which File Extension are You?

Erm... Don't do it unless you're REALLY bored. It was actually vaguely amusing, more than can be said for 99.9999999999999999% of those kinda questionnaires I've done.

John Peel dies at 65

BBC - Radio 1 News - John Peel

John Peel OBE, legendary Radio 1 and Radio 4 presenter, has died suddenly on holiday in Peru.

It has been confirmed that John died from a heart attack last night - he leaves behind his wife Sheila and four children.

The veteran broadcaster had worked for Radio 1 since its launch in 1967.

Radio 1 Controller Andy Parfitt said:

"John Peel was a broadcasting legend. I am deeply saddened by his death as are all who work at Radio 1."

"John's influence has towered over the development of popular music for nearly four decades and his contribution to modern music and music culture is immeasurable."

"Hopeful bands all over the world sent their demo tapes to John knowing that he really cared. His commitment and passion for new music only grew stronger over the years."

"In fact, when I last saw him he was engaged in a lively debate with his fellow DJs over the state of new music today. He will be hugely missed."

BBC Director of Radio & Music Jenny Abramsky added:

"John Peel was a unique broadcaster whose influence on Radio 1 could be felt from its very first days. He nurtured musicians and listeners alike introducing them to new sounds."

"His open minded approach to music was mirrored by his equally generous approach to his audience when he went to Radio 4 to present Home Truths."

"He had a remarkable rapport with all his listeners. Everyone at BBC Radio is devasted by the news. John is simply irreplaceable. Our hearts go out to Sheila and his children."

What a shame. I'm gutted.

Music sales rise despite RIAA's best efforts

You gotta love The Register. Even though it's been sufferering a seemingly-pointless DDoS during the past couple of days, it still has time to report such quality information as this article about how "Music sales rise despite RIAA's best efforts".

Thanks El Reg. :D

Yay. 19.

Well, it's been a while since I blogged... And for a reason: on the 13th of October, I turned 19.

Woo.

Yeah, it was ok - I got the Star Wars Trilogy boxset so I've been busy watching 1) the Bonus DVD (4 hours of bonus material!) and then starting off in (release date) chronological order. When Episode III comes out, I must edit all 6 together into a monster video file and then hold a marathon Star Wars screening without any credits or gaps. :D

Aside from that, I got a bit older. Now the oldest person in my sixth form. Failed my driving test the other week too, that kinda takes the piss a little - but never mind. Life continues - and this weekend I'm off to Swindon with my mates to get royally mashed at the Valve soundsystem gig at the Brunel Rooms. Awesome.

No funny links or nowt today, sorry to all 2 people who probably read this. :D I've really gotten slack about updating this thing, I must do it more often.

Oh, PS: you HAVE to see the Osbournes Season 2.5 Double DVD set, it's absolutely hilarious. Unmissable stuff. The Ozzy Translator's also helped clear up a few of his Ozzisms :D ... Though you can tell his phrases were translated by an American, there's some blatant errors which are only apparent to a fellow Englishman :D It's all good though. Check it out; fail to do so at your peril. ;)

From the people who bought you This Land...

...Good to be in DC!

This animation rocks, just like This Land (their first) - I love the portrayal of Bill Clinton. The whole thing rocks. Check it out OR ELSE... You'll miss it. ;)
